a clear eye
Keep a clear eye
toward life's end.
Do not forget your purpose and destiny as God's
creature.
What your are in His sight is what
you are and nothing more.
Remember that when you leave
this earth, you can take nothing
you have received...
but only
what you have given;
a full
heart enriched by honest service,
love, sacrifice and courage.

Tombstone: Not neglected !
Dear Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder how you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Their Words Do Remain.... also
Reflecting back on the year 1968. A letter was written.... and I would say it was from Mama Dooley (my daddy's mother ~ Pearlie Travis Morgan-Huggins)
NOTE: a 6 cent stamp: The address is the home of my daddy's brother.... James DD Morgan and wife Dorothy.
The date is 2-6-1968... and Mama Dooley is really quite ill. She will not live much longer/nor recover regardless of strict diet. I don't think they said much or diagnosed her diabetes as an acute problem of kidney failure.
It seems Daddy had sent her a box, and she turns around to send my oldest brother Howard Jr.... a bit of money. She's giving.... in her weakened state.
This first picture was taken by another family member. It hereby shows the date of death for mama Dooley as February 27, 1968 in Chicago IL (21 days later).
Below,...this is my favorite picture of Mama Dooley, I can't tell where it was taken. There were several years that Mama Dooley would visit us in Oklahoma. She seems so cool and casual with a smile in this picture. I can't even guess her age.
Back in 2008, by way of Memphis, TN, my brother and I (hubby and children) drove to the Great State of Mississippi - MLK call it "a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression.."
This is the cemetery where Mama Dooley rests.

Tuesday Musings ` Their Works Do Follow !
KJV
Revelation 14: 12-13
12 Here is the patience of the saints: here
are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Something newly ~ learned today!!!
Queen Nzinga - Prior to last year, I had never heard of Queen Nzinga. Even in adult life, I continue to learn about various historical figures. Queen Nzinga was a 17th century African ruler of the Ndongo and Matamba kingdoms (present day Angola). Queen Nzinga fought for the freedom of her kingdoms against the Portuguese.

Dear Howard,
We are all well here.
After I wrote you
yesterday, the light man came out, so I had to pay him $3.50 and promised to
pay the other Monday. That was the $3.00
I had ready to send to Ricker. If you
can send Ricker something.
I carried the boys to the
park yesterday evening and they had a big time swimming. They learned to mid-crawl and they called
that swimming.
Charlene can float. I did not know we had to pay to get in the
pool. $0.10 each under 12 yrs old. Orville was too scared to get in. Beverly walked around in the pool. They all had fun and now are ready to go
again.
See you Saturday.
Love sincerely, Helen
The itch is much better

The Story of T. B. Sipuel
Telling Big Mama's Story.....
This is something I want me and my brothers and cousins to do... in a book style.
I searched the newspaper film in the OK History Center several months ago. I found these words in a White- Daily Oklahoman Newspaper rendering this story (dated September 1946).

HEART ATTACK FATAL TO
NOTED NEGRO LEADER
"A heart attack was fatal for the Reverend Sipuel, prominent
negro leader of the city last week in Oklahoma City. He went to a garage in the city to have his
car fixed which had been in a wreck.
When the garage man said it would cost $400 to repair the car he slumped
with a heart attack from which he never recovered."

Easter Celebrated with ~ The Aged, middle aged, the young, and the future
This year's Easter Sunday was one that I almost complained about. It is in the aftermath of losing Papa Kirk less than a month ago.
But blessed indeed
Grandmother (great) is the Old
These are the great-grands......
